.Chanel’s fit model of almost 20 years, Amanda Sanchez, shares her experience from self-isolation in Paris.
, was going into the House’s Paris headquarters on 31 Rue Cambon every day before COVID-19 hit. She would work with ateliers who would use her measurements to create the next Chanel collection. Sometimes, she’d sneak a moment to take a selfie of her daily outfit on her office’s stairs in front of a mirror that stretched from ceiling to floor. Now, as is the case in many countries for people who are not essential workers, her daily life in France has come to a halt.
To alleviate stress, Sanchez has been delving into at-home exercise. According to her, she had never worked out pre-COVID-19. “I didn’t do any kind of sports in my normal life. Now, I’m doing yoga every day,” she says. “I’m also doing this Brazilian dance. The instructor does it with Brazilian music and choreography.” She keeps in touch with a few friends and says that during the first few days of quarantine her phone was flooded with FaceTime calls.
Speaking of her son, the time alone has allowed her to further bond with him. “It is nice because he is 13 and is about to turn 14. I can really talk to him and have conversations. Two days ago, he was like, ‘When is [life] going back to normal?’ I said, ‘I don't know if it will get back to normal before. You’re going to have a different life.’” And with the both of them home, Sanchez is finding herself cooking more. “I am a very, very bad cook.
