In Pittsburgh, the small town that plays a big city on TV, two names in food and drink come up again and again: Hal Klein, associate editor and restaurant critic at Pittsburgh Magazine, and Aadam Soorma.

, one of the city’s most popular brewery busses. He’s also a talented bartender, a snappy dresser, and very nice guy.

In 2012, Soorma started a master’s degree at Carnegie Mellon in public policy. As part of the program, he completed a fellowship in Washington, D.C. Post-grad school, Soorma went to work for an ad agency. He moved to Philadelphia, and then received a job offer from some grad school friends who were opening a co-working space in Pittsburgh.“I came right back,” said Soorma. “When I was in grad school, I lived in Pittsburgh at the corner of Negley and Walnut, near all the bars. When I came back after Philly, I moved into the house across from my old house. My address literally changed one digit.

For Bar Marco, Soorma ran offsite events. He also met with a friend of a friend who was cofounding a brew bus tour. Half brothers Andy Clayton and Johnny Willett were the founders of the Porter Brew Bus, and they needed someone to be the face of the organization. Soorma’s personable disposition made him an obvious choice.“I’m the face of the brand, and that’s by design,” he said. “The other beer tour companies are run by white dudes. They’re super knowledgeable, but no one confuses us.
