Here's what Nick Saban had to say about Amari Niblack and Alabama's other tight ends after the Crimson Tide beat Middle Tennessee State.

doesn’t let his coordinators make wholesale changes on offense, so before Alabama’s season opener against Middle Tennessee State, it was largely unknown how big a role that would play. To answer the question, the tight ends looked excellent against the Blue Raiders.“That group is, I think, much better than we’ve had in the last couple years,” Saban said. “We’ve had to play an offensive tackle at tight end to be able to do some of the things that we’re doing now.

“Amari is a really nice pass receiver,” Saban said. Had a really nice catch down the middle today. He’s improved his blocking.” He’s also slimmer than many tight ends, weighing 233 pounds. Combined with his 6-foot-4 frame, and he doesn’t exactly look the part of a bruising run blocker. Saban also had nice things to say about the rest of the room, including CJ Dippre, Danny Lewis Jr. and Robbie Ouzts. Dippre, a Maryland transfer, was the only other tight end with a catch, grabbing one ball for five yards.“One thing I am proud of them on is their communication,” Burton said after the game.
