Now, Rezai, a Grade 12 student at Nutana Collegiate, is a team coach.

Recently, SODS was awarded a community development grant from Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart foundation towards forming the team. The foundation, in a statement to the StarPhoenix, said it’s proud to support the program’s launch.We are excited to see that the program has been well-received by Afghan youth in the community, with more local girls participating than initially projected,” it said.
“I’m really inspired by these girls, hearing their stories, everything they’ve been through to get here. And then just seeing the brightness they have and their love for one another and now finding a love for skateboarding, is just, it’s a beautiful thing for me,” she said.
