"Every time you move a piece of data, you increase the risk of it being stolen," Rob High, chief technology officer of IBM Edge Computing, says. Security centers monitoring video feeds from hundreds of locations could receive real-time alerts on suspicious activity so they may be able to notify authorities sooner.
In the future, 5G could power a host of autonomous vehicles, smart cities, virtual-reality devices, and more.
