, Charlie Martin—one half of the Texas duo Hovvdy—has returned with new single “Splash.” Martin charts sonic territory that will be familiar to all Hovvdy fans, as he crafts a delicate, strumming indie-folk ballad.
“We could do it if we tried / A dumb try, we’ll never win / You say life’s easy like no fear / Saw a big strong man / With a bat in his hand swinging / We could do it if we tried,” he sings. As always, Martin’s vocals are airy and punctuated by crisp, heavenly background harmonies. “Splash” is a beautiful, thoughtful offering.
