A man was sentenced to 35 years in prison for a 2017 homicide.

A man was sentenced to 35 years in prison for shooting and killing his classmate over a $250 gun transfer when theJesse Quinones, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of murder and was sentenced as part of a plea agreement, according to court records. Quinones had been accused of fatally shooting Patrick Aldape, when both men were 17.

Quinones was a student at the Accelerated Center Education, or ACE, when he met Aldape in a cul-de-sac on the northeast side of town, at 500 Slumberwood Drive, according to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Quinones had been working on a shotgun that belonged to Aldape, and Quinones brought a 9mm pistol to the meeting. The two men met and Quinones gave Aldape the shotgun, which was wrapped in a towel and Aldape put it in the trunk of his vehicle, officials said.

Quinones drove a few blocks away, loaded his pistol and returned, where he shot Aldape as he approached the vehicle, officials said. Quinones then fired several more shots. Quinones fled and wrecked his vehicle a little more than a mile away in the 500 block of Federal Road, officials said. He then ran from the crash, leaving behind the pistol.

A woman who was with Aldape drove him to the hospital, where he later died, officials said. She also tossed the shotgun into the bushes, where investigators later found it.
