Cougars are a No. 1 that's not done
Houston fans celebrate the Cougars’ 81-64 win over Auburn in a second-round college basketball game in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Birmingham, Ala. Houston advanced to the Midwest Regional semifinals with the win.For 20 minutes Saturday, it looked like the Cougars were destined for the same fate. Down by 10 points at halftime, the Cougars did not panic.
For the next 20 minutes, UH put together one of the most dominant defensive performances in the program’s tournament history. Auburn managed only four field goals, shooting 16.7 percent, and 23 points. UH’s frontcourt of Jarace Walker and Roberts combined for 11 of the team’s 12 blocked shots.
