Firefighters in Elyria were able to save a family's dog Thursday by giving it oxygen following a house fire. Unfortunately, five other pets perished in the fire. ELYRIA, Ohio — Five family pets were killed Thursday afternoon in a house fire that caused heavy damage to the structure, authorities say.
Firefighters were able to save one pet from the fire at the home on the 200 block of Roosevelt Avenue, Fire Chief Joseph Pronesti said. There were no reports of injuries to residents in the home or firefighters. The fire was reported at about 3:45 p.m. The fire was contained to the kitchen area of the home but causeed heavy heat and smoke damage to the entire home, Pronesti said.
