J.J. Abrams recently gave an update on Mattel's planned Hot Wheels movie, and now, we know a bit more about the film.

. Speaking to the New Yorker, Abrams described the movie as “emotional and grounded and gritty.” Robbie Brenner, head of Mattel Films, also said that the film will have “real characters that you can relate to, that are three-dimensional, that have emotional journeys.”
