“While the vast majority of people stayed safe and acted responsibly, whenever we see this many people gathering outside, there’s bound to be more incidents requiring police,” Addison said. On Friday night a 16-year-old boy was stabbed several times at Davie and Denman Street, a 23-year-old man was pepper-sprayed at English Bay and a 19-year-old Surrey man was arrested after exposing a firearm outside the Roxy nightclub on Granville Street.
Also on Friday a 32-year-old man was arrested after assaulting another man inside the Hillcrest Community Centre. Late Friday night police arrested five men in South Vancouver and charged them with firearms offences. On Sunday morning police arrested a 34-year-old man who had allegedly stolen a wallet from a person who was overdosing at Main and Hastings streets.
