Fire department focusing on safety in the kitchen during Fire Prevention Week 2023
The Sault's fire department is cooking up some timely advice for Fire Prevention Week with the focus this year on preventing kitchen fires.
Under the theme, "Cooking safety starts with you," Sault Fire Services is urging everyone to take simple steps to prevent kitchen fires in the home. Educating everyone in your household about dangers near the stove can keep them and those around them safe, the fire service said in a news release.
Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services is opening their doors with two open houses this year for Fire Prevention Week, which runs Oct. 8 to 14. The second will be at Fire Hall #3 on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be a chance to speak with fire services staff members, accompanied by giveaways, fire extinguisher training, equipment demonstrations and an M&M’s barbecue, according to the fire service.
Throughout the week there will also be social media ads, posts and videos, along with radio ads and TV commercials, the fire service said.
