A statement from Amazon confirms that a production horse died last week on the set of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power suffered a tragedy last week during the production of season 2 when a horse died on set. Real horses have been used throughout the production of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, as they are Middle-earth's primary method of transportation. A multitude of horses were used during a battle sequence in season 1 when the Númenórean cavalry aided in a battle against Orcs in the Southlands.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT We are deeply saddened to confirm that a production horse died on 21st March. The incident took place in the morning whilst the horse was being exercised prior to rehearsals. The trainer was not in costume and filming had yet to commence. Both a veterinarian and a representative of the American Humane Association were present at the time.
