Menopausal hormone therapy risks 'bigger and last longer' than thought
Oestrogen therapies applied in the vagina - such as creams or a pessary - did not increase the risk.
"We don't want to alarm women, but we don't want to give them false reassurance," Prof Gillian Reeves, from the University of Oxford told the BBC. If patients are concerned, it recommends discussing their hormone therapy at their"next routine appointment". She says she"lost her brain" and was struggling at work, her joints ached, she was not sleeping well and she starting getting migraines.
"I feel a lot more confident working. I still have some bad days, get some migraines, but overall I feel much better taking it than I did before."Hormone therapy has given her a good quality of life and she plans to discuss the issue at her next appointment with her consultant.However, they provide some context:8% of breast cancer cases in the UK are caused by overweight and obesity.5% of breast cancer cases in the UK are caused by not breastfeeding.
