- Hong Kong police used tear gas on Saturday to try to disperse anti-government protests on the eastern side of the Kowloon peninsula, across the harbor from Hong Kong island. The protesters marched in the gritty Kwun Tong industrial district of the Chinese-ruled city. It was the first use of tear gas in about 10 days amid protests that have persisted for nearly three months.
