The Hang Seng Index HSI, +0.83% of Hong Kong companies rose 0.8% to 17,611.87, while the Nikkei 225 Index NIK, +0.18% of Japanese companies increased 0.2% to 32,371.90.
Shares of pharmaceuticals firm Hansoh Pharmaceutical 3692, +4.26% and life insurance company AIA Group 1299, +3.89% added 4.3% and 3.9%, respectively. Among Nikkei 225 Index constituents, pharmaceuticals company Chugai Pharmaceutical 4519, +4.07% saw the largest increase Wednesday, as shares gained 4.1%.
