Cardinal Zen, who was once bishop of Hong Kong, is one of the most prominent pro-democracy activists from the Catholic Church.
On Thursday, a fifth fund trustee, Cyd Ho, was also arrested for her involvement in the relief fund, according to media reports. Ho is already serving a prison sentence for taking part in an unauthorized vigil in 2020 to commemorate the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

The fund disbanded inafter the national security police issued a statement saying they would investigate whether the entity had violated the security law.
