THUNDER BAY — A Hill Street North resident narrowly escaped a basement fire early on Wednesday morning.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, in a release, said they arrived at the home, located in the 100 block of the north side street, at about 4 a.m., and confirmed a fire in the basement of the structure, leading to a second alarm being called.Fire crews applied water to the fire through a basement window and worked their way through the home to completely put the fire out, containing it to the compartment of origin.
Crews were on scene for about two hours and fire officials say the fire remains under investigation. Six pumpers, an aerial ladder and a command vehicle attended the scene.
