Sequoia holds her arm in front of my face and shakes the pompom at the end of her black cord-snake."She's a rattlesnake," Sequoia tells me."It's the deadliest rattlesnake ever. She doesn't hurt me at all, but she rattles at the other people." The couple, whose home base is Carmel, dreamed of hiking the PCT together. But the trip kept getting delayed, first when David's mom got sick and moved in with them, then when Marketa got pregnant.
