Nicolas Toledo is the first victim identified in the deadly July 4th parade shooting in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park.
Police say a suspect began shooting shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, stopping the parade just 10 minutes after it started. Law enforcement said they believe the suspect was firing on the crowd gathered to watch the parade from atop a tall building.
Toldeo's sone said another family member, a child, has been shot but their condition is unknown at this time. "There are no words sufficient to express the depth of our grief for Jacki's death and sympathy for her family and loved ones," read the statement. Doctors said 25 of the 26 patients came in with gunshot wound injuries. Some of them were minor, others more severe, and several victims were in critical condition, doctors said.
