WOLFVILLE, N.S. — Heart and determination were on full display Oct. 8 as runners pushed themselves through high winds and heavy rain towards the finish line at the
“Runners are tough and it’s all about perseverance,” said Kevin LeBlanc, a Memramcook, N.B., native who now lives in Brookside, Halifax County. “I love the course. I was all happy to sign up and when I saw the weather today, I was a bit discouraged but still went for it.” While running in messy weather was on full display Oct. 8, it isn’t new to those who enjoy the sport and train in all kinds of conditions throughout the year.
“I just knocked this one out of the park," van Niekerk said moments after finishing her hometown race. She grew up in the Annapolis Valley and moved back to the region in 2020 with her family. She turned 40 this year and decided to get into running to set a good example for her children.
