The vast majority of the Christmas movies you know and love were November releases that earned more of their money in North America than overseas.

It gets that opening weekend, plus it gets a bit of a lift over Thanksgiving weekend as well. Think. And then it gets to take advantage of that crucial end-of-year blitz over the holidays where kids are out of school and many adults are off from work.earned just 66% of its eventual $270 million domestic total by the end of Thanksgiving weekend .
If that's an extreme example, well, every movie wants to be the one that clicks accordingly.
