Elon Musk sleeps over at Twitter HQ and has installed a wardrobe in his conference-room-turned-hotel-room, a BBC reporter tweeted. The San Francisco building inspections department is investigating the conversion as the building is for commercial use.
Talk about burning the midnight oil. After a report by Forbes that Twitter has set up bedrooms for employees at its headquarters in San Francisco, the BBC reported it has obtained pictures of the office-space conversions.
Since Elon Musk’s tenure as “chief twit” began in late October, the shakeup at Twitter has entailed a firing frenzy eliminating around half of the 7,500-person workforce. Those remaining employees and contractors are said to be pulling long hours so that office spaces have been converted into sleeping quarters.
Musk apparently sleeps over at Twitter headquarters and has installed a wardrobe in his conference room–turned–hotel room, tweeted James Clayton, the BBC’s North America tech reporter, late on Wednesday. Sofas have been turned into beds, and a washing machine has been fitted for staff to launder clothing as needed.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco building inspections department is launching an investigation into the conversion as the two buildings that compose the headquarters are intended for commercial use. “We need to make sure the building is being used as intended,” a representative of the department reportedly told the San Francisco public radio station KQED.
