Hurricane Helene continues to strengthen as it moves across the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.

) - Winds were still at 85 mph sustained, with significant strengthening expected. As of the 10 p.m. advisory, the pressure was now down to 972 millibars. The National Hurricane Center is predicting the storm to reach Category 4 strength prior to landfall.

Storm surge values could be in the 15-20 foot range for Apalachee Bay. Significant winds will be expected near and well east of the center. The Florida Peninsula, most of Georgia, and parts of South Carolina will see tropical storm conditions.
