A large oak tree is on the corner lot of Constance Drive and N. Lou-Al Drive Friday, May 20, 2022 in HEDWIG VILLAGE Hedwig Village. The property owner wants to tear down a massive oak tree that neighbors say is at least 100 years old to make room for a new house. The neighbors hope the owners will change their minds.Dwayne Mollard is astounded every time he looks at the massive oak tree across the street from his home in Hedwig Village.

The architect designed a plan that incorporates and preserves the tree while maintaining the same square footage the property owner was aiming to develop.“I let him have those drawings to what the layout was,” Mollard said, adding he rearranged the design to work around the trees.Masrur on Friday said the owner and developer were maintaining all city and state regulations. He declined further comment.

Although it doesn’t help preservation efforts for this particular tree, Puig is content that other trees may be spared.
