Heat warnings are in place for a number of areas in the Northwest Territories, including one community where wildfires are blazing just 1.5 kilometres away from the town's centre.
As of Saturday afternoon, a fire nearly 4,000 square kilometres in size was burning one kilometre west of the town's airport andThe fire has already destroyed a cabin and a travel trailer near the shores of Great Slave Lake.
"This may cause severe fire activity, and would support growth to the north, and to the east," read thefrom the territory on Saturday. "Firefighting efforts today and tomorrow will be focused on reducing these risks."
