“Basically the BART went flying right. It went up in the air, we were freaking out,” said passenger Josh Radigan. “It was like a roller coaster or something.”
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Steve Hill said a handful of passengers reported minor injuries and were treated at the scene.A BART train partially derailed late Tuesday in Concord, officials said. Cheryl Hurd reports.“I saw this train go by. It sounded a lot louder than usual. I saw this fire spark out of nowhere, which was a little strange,” said witness Lala Hasani of Concord.“It’s good news that there’s no damage to the opposite track.
A crew of about 70 workers will work overnight to move the train then cut out the damaged track and replace it. ConFire units responding to a BART train that has partially derailed near Hastings Dr. and David Ave. in Concord. No report of injuries. Please stay clear of the area as crews work to evacuate the train and extinguish spot fires.
