HBO addresses reports that The Idol, the channel's controversial new series from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, has been cancelled after two episodes.
HBO has debunked rumors that The Idol has been cancelled after only two episodes. Created by Euphoria's Sam Levinson, The Idol stars Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, a pop idol who becomes infatuated with nightclub owner and cult leader Tedros, played by Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye. The series has received criticism, partly for its gratuitous use of nudity and sex scenes.
The post explains that HBO hasn't renewed The Idol for season 2 either. Rumors of The Idol's cancellation is part of a long line of controversy and criticism that has been aimed at the series, even before it aired on HBO.
