Hazardous weather expected in area, high winds, hail, thunderstorms, officials say
Winds could reach up to 70 mph with large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter, according to the NWS.
Officials extended the tornado watch to include the cities of Chicago, Evanston, Lemont, Orland Park, Oak Lawn, Park Forest and Schaumburg, according to the NWS.As of 4:20 p.m., a line of severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Bartlett to Plainfield moving northeast at 45 mph, officials said. A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 5:15 p.m. .
