Darth Vader confronts his past in front of Padmé’s tomb in a haunting Star Wars fanart. Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith retconned Return of the Jedi to reveal that Padmé, mother of Luke and Leia, died shortly after the twins were born. Anakin Skywalker, who was technically already Darth Vader by that point, saw himself in a “self-fulfilling prophecy” in which his actions to prevent Padmé from dying is what caused her death.
Padmé Amidala received a tomb in Star Wars canon following her funeral in Revenge of the Sith, which displayed a statue of Padmé in her throne room gown. Padmé and Anakin’s story was a tragic one, which this artwork perfectly captures.
