Harry Potter’s Harry Melling weighs in on JK Rowling’s trans comments: ‘Everybody has the right to choose’
Harry was questioned about Rowling’s thoughts during a recent interview and made his stance on the matter clear.
‘I can only speak for myself, and what I feel, to me, is very simple, which is that transgender women are women and transgender men are men,’ he told theContinuing on, the star explained: ‘Every single person has the right to choose who they are and to identify themselves as what’s true to themselves.
‘I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.’ Her post earned her the title of TERF at the time from disgruntled social media users, which stands for trans-exclusionary radical feminist.
The famous writer has since defended her name stating in an essay: ‘Accusations of TERFery have been sufficient to intimidate many people, institutions and organisations I once admired, who’re cowering before the tactics of the playground.’
