Harrison Ford is returning to Indiana Jones with The Dial of Destiny, and his original hesitancy is a good sign for the sequel's quality.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will see the return of Harrison Ford's Indy, and the actor's hesitancy to come back for a fifth adventure makes the movie way more exciting. Harrison Ford is the face of the Indiana Jones franchise, and although he surely gets a big paycheck with each movie, the actor seems passionate enough to turn down a project if he does not think it will work.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the first film in the franchise since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which itself was a long-awaited revival of the original trilogy. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was notoriously bad, with many believing that the film killed the franchise. That is obviously not the case, as Indiana Jones will be returning to the big screen for one last adventure in The Dial of Destiny.
Harrison Ford is famously hesitant to do sequels, even coming close to dropping out of the Star Wars franchise after The Empire Strikes Back. Unlike many other franchise reboots, Harrison Ford has only done revivals of movies if they live up to the original, with him appearing in critically-acclaimed follow-ups like Blade Runner 2049 and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Why Indiana Jones 5 Couldn't Have Happened Without Harrison Ford Although Harrison Ford has been in lots of movies, Indiana Jones has always been the franchise he is most closely associated with. Ford is clearly passionate about the character, getting emotional at the reveal of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny's first look.
If Indiana Jones 5 did happen without Harrison Ford, the film would have to replace him, which would be another huge mistake. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull caused outrage when it hinted that Mutt would replace Indiana Jones, and the franchise should never attempt that again. Harrison Ford returning for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny saves the fifth movie, as it would have been a disaster without him.
