“We’re playing well right now,” said Harlan first baseman Lauren Vallery, who finished the game 3-for-3 with a solo homer, two-run homer, a double and three RBI. “Last year, we struggled hitting as a team, and we’ve worked hard to improve on that. We’re doing well in every part of the game right now.”
“There were times when I struggled tonight,” Flores said. “But I knew my defense was behind me, and it made things easier for me. We can’t win unless we have both our offense and our defense, and we had them tonight.” However, that lead only lasted until the top of the second, when Vallery launched a solo homer to left center field to tie the game at one.
