While seeking funding from the municipality, they spoke about the impact the revamped courts and clubhouse could have on the region. “The future use of the revamped courts and clubhouse will attract people to our community and its ongoing use will only be limited by imagination and funding.”
“So the project that was chosen to put those funds towards was to really revamp the tennis facility and make it something that would be more welcoming, more accessible and really an asset to the whole municipality,” Zamora said. The tennis and pickleball courts at the Hantsport Memorial Community Centre will be revamped and renamed in honour of the late Renda VanderToorn, a longtime physical education teacher who was passionate about sports and often used the 18-acre property as her classroom. - Contributed
