More than 80 people out looking for leads related to missing person's case
MOUNT STEWART, P.E.I. — The Native Council of P.E.I. is conducting a ground search this week to gather information about an Indigenous woman who went missing nearly a month ago.Lisa Cooper, president and chief of the Native Council of P.E.I., was part of a group of more than 80 people on Sept. 5 searching areas in Mount Stewart and Pisquid in hopes of finding any leads related to Kneebone.
“We are fully having the support of the family. We are supporting them as well. And this is what we're here for is to raise awareness of this,” she told SaltWire in an interview Sept. 5. More than 80 people joined the ground search for Summer Kneebone in the Mount Stewart-Pisquid area on Sept. 5. They combed through locations like dirt roads and riverbanks, with plans to inform the police if they discovered any evidence. - Thinh Nguyen/SaltWireCooper said the Mount Stewart-Pisquid area was chosen for the search because she’s been told it’s where the last ping from Kneebone's cellphone was located.
“There's a lot of complex feelings. People, I think, are simultaneously worried. They're worried about what they will find. They're worried about what they won't find. They're just concerned about the overall situation,” he said. Cooper said since Kneebone went missing, a lot of Islanders have been supportive and helped share her information on Facebook.
