Green Day guitarist and lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong reached out to fans on social media in hope of finding his classic Chevy sedan, which police believe was stolen over the weekend in Costa Mesa.
The musician shared photos of the1962 Chevy II, also known as a Nova, on Saturday, Feb. 5. It is pearl with a brown and cheetah-print interior, a black and yellow license plate, chrome rims and black leather steering wheel, as seen in his Twitter post. “This car is near and dear to all our hearts and has been in the [Green Day] family for over 30 years,” Armstrong wrote in his post, which had been shared by over 1,400 Twitter users as of Sunday afternoon.
The apparent theft was reported to authorities at 9 a.m. Saturday, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Jerry Souza said. Investigators believe the classic car was taken from where it was parked on Victoria Street east of the Santa Ana River sometime after Friday afternoon. It remained missing as of Sunday.My car was STOLEN 1962 Chevy II. This car is near and dear to all our hearts and has been in the GD family for over 30 years.
