A new DCComics story that takes place within the canon of the Arrowverse sees Oliver Queen's GreenArrow return to fight alongside his daughter Mia, the Green Arrow of the future. It also reveals a big missed opportunity for the CW's superhero franchise.
The CW's Arrowverse is taking readers to the future in 2049 in a new age of heroes, with Green Arrow's return showcasing one of the biggest missed story opportunities. In Earth-Prime: Hero's Twilight #6 by DC Comics, the fate of Mia Queen is revealed, as the hero is the Green Arrow of the future. However, with her role, new appearance, and the new fate of her father, Oliver Queen, the comic can't help but illustrate how The CW failed the new Green Arrow.
Mia Queen is the daughter of Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak, with the character being brought to life in the Arrowverse by actress Katherine McNamara. Twenty years into the future, Queen has taken up her father's mantle as Star City's new Green Arrow. McNamara's Green Arrow was even set to star in her own spinoff on The CW called Green Arrow and the Canaries, but the series was canceled before it aired, leaving Mia Queen's fate up in the air.
While it's great to see Mia Queen's Green Arrow in action, with the revelation Oliver Queen's Spectre is somehow alive and testing the new heroes for a bigger challenge coming soon, it can't help feel the comic sets up a missed opportunity for the hero.
It would make for an emotional story to see Mia Queen's Green Arrow learn that her father is still alive while forming a new age of heroes in the Arrowverse. That could still happen, but considering The CW has shown little interest in continuing the past version of their superhero universe and the new Green Arrow's adventures, the epic comic crossover's conclusion feels like a huge missed opportunity for the future of the Arrowverse.
