Fewer than half of all GP appointments at 16 Lancashire GP surgeries were carried out face-to-face, according to NHS data.
That compares with a national average of around two thirds of appointments taking place in person and a little over a quarter being carried out over the phone. At some of the most restrictive practices, fewer than one in five appointments were classed as being face-to-face in the NHS data. The statistics, which cover all practices across England, have been made publicly available by the NHS for the first time in a bid to improve transparency. The idea is to allow patients to compare how their practice compares to others and the data is to be released on a monthly basis.In Lancashire, the GP surgery offering the lowest proportion of appointments face-to-face is The Family Practice in Blackburn. There, just one in three appointments were carried out in person.

It will also show you the percent of its appointments which are on the same day of request and the typical number of days wait for an appointment.
