DeWine’s Democratic challenger, former Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, scored a net favorability of minus 12 . Copeland also noted that DeWine’s popularity seems at odds with the high number of respondents who said they support liberal issues that DeWine opposes, such as abortion rights. “We’re confusing people’s policy preferences with the choices they have to make when they get into the polling booth,” Copeland said. “And there just isn’t the opportunity to vote for more moderate politicians, especially Republicans in Ohio.”Brown .Three others received negative net favorability ratings:While voters viewed DeWine favorably, that did not translate to positive marks, when voters were asked to rate his job performance.
