BreakingNews AP projects Lee Zeldin to win Republican nomination for New York governor
Primary Election Day has arrived in New York. Most of the focus has been on the race for New York governor. Josh Einiger and Kristin Thorne have team coverage of the primaries.
Hochul enters the general election campaign with a big advantage, running as the incumbent with a heavy fundraising advantage in a state that has more than twice as many registered Democrats than Republicans and has not had a GOP governor in 16 years. Hochul was already with Reps. Carolyn Maloney and Jerry Nadler, who will be battling for the redistricted NY-12 seat, when the mayor spotted the campaigning and jumped out to join her at the 86th Street subway station.Adams endorsed Hochul earlier in the campaign.
Despite that formal backing, Zeldin insists the upcoming general election will be about far more voters than that.
