: What has it been like to look back at this time in a new way? What do you remember thinking when you first started working on: Everyone was very excited about these books that were going to be made into a TV show, there was such a cult following with the books. I was nervous. All these kids had worked together, it was in New York City and I was only supposed to go and do three, four episodes.

Vanessa grounded [the show] and brought this thing where she had a regular job and had to work for her money and didn't go on these crazy trips and wear these crazy outfits. But Vanessa was funny to me because there were so many parts of her that I really liked.
