Nest's VP of Product, Rishi Chandra, told Business Insider in a recent interview that with the Hub Max, his team tried to imagine how to make a communal device — something that may be used by the whole family — also offer a personalized experience. Google says that with Face Match, facial profiles are created and stored locally on the device, mitigating privacy concerns of sending such personalized information to company servers. Google also says the artificial intelligence needed to process images for its Quick Gestures feature is all happening on-device and that it is later deleted — again, without being sent to company servers.
