Google is said to be developing a budget Chromecast device that runs the company’s Google TV interface, but is not capable of streaming 4K video, according to aThe new device, being developed under the code word “Boreal,” would be based on an Amlogic S805X2 CPU with a Mali-G31 GPU, which allows decoding of the AV1 video codec. The dongle would support 1080p video streaming, with a maximum frame rate of 60fps, with an expected 2GB of RAM.
