Kevin Whitmer, who is leaving NJ Advance Media at the end of the year, impacted journalism in this state like few others.

When Amy Ellis Nutt wanted to investigate the sinking of a scallop boat off the Jersey Shore, Kevin gave her and videographer Andre Malok all the time and resources they needed.“Kevin never seemed to doubt we’d bring home the story,” said Amy, who now freelances and writes books. “There’s not much more a reporter could ask from an editor.”
