GM Defense gets full Army contract for its Infantry Squad Vehicle.

GM Defense, the defense contracting arm of General Motors, was initially awarded a $214.3 million contract for the production of 2065 ISV units back in 2020. In the time since, GM has managed to deliver more than 300 examples of the Infantry Squad Vehicle to service members enlisted in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, according to GM Defense. The ISV is a light all-terrain troop carrier specifically designed to accommodate nine member squads within larger Infantry Brigade Combat Teams.

The battlefield-ready truck might not be a perfect solution to all of the Army’s troop-carrying needs, but it’s clearly impressed enough officials to get the full nod from the Department of Defense. All I know is that I can’t wait for a few of these things to show up at military surplus auctions. I’m willing to bet that the ISV would make for a pretty great rock crawler or dune basher.

Russia, which had traditionally close ties with Greece before the war in Ukraine, for decades was a supplier of arms to the NATO member, including the S-300 air defense missile system.
