The benefit hike will be a godsend to those who rely on financial support 🙌🏼

As the cost of living crisis grips the country and households continue to struggle to make ends meet, Glaswegians could be entitled to more money as 12 Scottish government benefit rates are increasing as of Saturday, April 1.

A dozen benefits will increase by 10.1 per cent in a bid to tackle child poverty and offer social security support to the most vulnerable across the city.As part of the national mission to tackle child poverty, the Scottish Child Payment increased in November and is now worth £25 per eligible child per week – a 150 per cent increase in eight months.

Social Justice Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said: “Tackling child poverty is my top priority and social security support is at the heart of that national mission.
