Viktoria Elohegyi was left desperate after she was wrongly told her meter was in £300 of debt.
A Glasgow student was left desperate after her pay-as-you-go meter suddenly stated she was over £300 of debt.
"Instead, £28 went for debt and £12 for gas, zero for emergency credit. After this I've checked my meter and it said I still owe £16.53 and on the back screen gas debt remaining said £255.60. The next day she tried again and called the emergency line. An adviser told her an engineer had been out to look at her meter on October 27 and that this is where the debt was added as she had not been paying for her gas.
"My standing charge is £0.375 and the adviser I spoke to kept insisting that it was £0.53, when it definitely isn't. After Glasgow Live got in touch with OVO for comment, Viktoria was contacted by a more senior employee at the energy company and her issue was quickly resolved.
