Darren Waller has a hamstring injury again.
This was always going to be the concern with Waller — a tight end who had the potential to help boost the’ struggling offense. That’s why the Giants traded a third-round draft pick to the Raiders for Waller, while committing about $24 million total to him for 2023 and 2024.
So with the Giants at 2-6, Waller might not play next week at the Raiders. There’s really no telling, at this point, how long he could be out. Waller offered further details about his current left hamstring injury: “This one is down by where the tendon attaches to your knee, so it wasn’t really like a muscle injury,” Waller said.“Disappointed,” Waller said. “Obviously, it felt like I had more to give, but after that one crossing route I ran, I knew my day was over.”“Yeah, there are thoughts that go through anybody’s head that would be in my position,” he said. “So yeah, it’s tough to deal with.
This is all a tough blow for Waller, who thought entering the season that hamstring issues were in the past for him. Waller was listed as questionable for Sunday against the Jets with his left hamstring injury, after being a limited participant all three days in practice. Waller was not on the injury report at all leading up to last week’s win over Washington.
