The new head coach has 'developed' Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen — but it'll take more than Xs and Os to fix the Giants offense.
Or Colt McCoy. Or Matt Moore. Or Matt Cassel and Tyler Palko. The newhead coach had to work with all those shaky passer as an offensive coordinator — with the Browns , the Dolphins and Chiefs — and none of them turned into the superstar that Allen has become under his tutelage with the Buffalo Bills.

This is a day for optimism, and given seven double-digit losing seasons in the last eight years, fans should enjoy it.Daboll himself would admit that whatever credit he has received as a quarterback whisperer for turning Allen into one of the league’s most prolific offensive players is overblown.
Schoen and Daboll will have to decide in early May whether or not to exercise the fifth-year option on Jones’s rookie contract. He’ll enter training camp as the presumed starter for the 2022 season either way, but that decision will be more revealing than any press-conference assurances about how much they believe in him.
