A theme of the offseason – fortifying one of the league’s worst rush defenses – continued Monday when the Giants agreed to terms with Robinson, The Post confirmed.A’Shawn Robinson adds more depth to the Giants’ defense.Robinson made a strong impression when he visited the team facility on March 20, but the finer points of a deal took a long time to be ironed out.
Robinson, who underwent a medical exam during his visit, was sidelined for the Rams by a torn meniscus from late November through the end of last season. Regarded primarily as a run-stuffer, Robinson, 28, is a former second-round pick with seven career sacks 93 games, including 61 starts .Since free agency started, the Giants have added linebacker Bobby Okereke and defensive tackles Rakeem Nunez-Roches and now Robinson to improve a unit that ranked No. 31 in the NFL last season with 5.2 yards per carry allowed.
